Even as the days end has calmed the senses and the impendence of sleep approaches, the haunting call of a bird can awaken the depth of all possibility through the veil of shadow. For reminders such as this keep the soul stirred even in the bleakest of moments.

Struggling to realize his own musical and artistic identity, musician and producer Josh Forsythe isolated himself from outside influences and over a period of many months, forged the sound of Thrush. “I wouldn’t let a single person hear any of the music until I felt it was ready,” says Josh. “I needed the freedom to develop my sound without any expectations.” The result is a three-song demo, the sampler of a broader work to be released in the near future.

Lush musical landscapes, cascading dynamics, propulsive rhythms, and soaring vocals engulf the music of Thrush. The familiar blend with the foreign to offer an unexplored listening experience. As author Henry David Thoreau noted of the songbirds call for which the project was named, Whenever a man hears it it is a new world and a free country, and the gates of heaven are not shut against him. The ethereal power of sound fused with a resounding lyrical message offer listeners that very free country where only hope pervades.

A band is currently in development to capture the creative spirit of this project and deliver to the expanse of live music. Expect Thrush to be more than the predictable sonic assault but a full artistic expression of the grace and beauty that this bird inspires.
