Throwback Suburbia bio

At a time when many see Rock n Roll as dead, Throwback Suburbia arrives with a healthy beating heart, offering plenty of oxygen to the brain. A breath of fresh air you might say. In early 2005, songwriting and production team, Mike Collins and Jimi Evans decided it was time to create what it was they were missing in modern music. The two spent a year writing and producing demos that have now evolved into the sound and backbone of the band. With a determination to return to the stage and bring their modern rock meets retro-pop sound to the masses, the two recruited bassist Eric French and guitarist Paul Bond. Throwback Suburbia was more than merely assembled-they were complete. The chemistry and sound of this band reminds us of a time when music was more than a disposable commodity. You cant help but hear the influence of classic artists such as Tom Petty, Cheap Trick and the Rolling Stones as well as more modern influences like Green Day, Rooney and Butch Walker. In a very short time they seem to have found the "It" factor rarely seen in new bands. It may be due in part to the hard work and impressive resumes they have built individually. In recent years lead vocalist and guitarist Jimi Evans toured as bassist for Epic recording artists Slowrush and has demoed songs with legendary producer Steven Stuart Short (Elton John, Queen, T-Rex). Drummer Mike Collins has toured with David Bowie guitarist Earl Slick and has done sessions for top producers like Rick Parashar (Rob Zombie, Nickelback) and Kelly Gray (Unwritten Law). Bassist Eric French has toured both the States and Europe and has been a sought after sideman for many popular Northwest bands, and guitarist Paul Bond is currently pulling double duty with singer/songwriter, James Guffee of The Tories (theme song to the hit sitcom "Jessie"). Collectively these four individuals are irrefutable. All being musical purists, they seem to have conjured up the heart and soul of everything we love about rock music. Throwback Suburbia blends infectious hooks, pop sensibility and a confident yet unpredictable Rock n Roll attitude that can be described as immediate and refreshingly familiar. If you should find yourself having trouble locating a pulse in todays music, Throwback Suburbia is a true testament to Rock n Roll being alive and well.
