The Sikes Biography

Landing onto the music scene with a rich combination of rock and soul, The Sikes came together late September of 2005 in Annapolis Maryland. Relatively unknown with no recorded music, persistence granted the band opportunities to play at well known music venues throughout the area. Within one month the band caught the attention of musician and Emmy award winning producer Jerome Maffeo. With Maffeo’s stamp, The Sikes debuted in February of 2006 with a self-released demo. Their single “Delirium” quickly jumped into radio rotation and The Sikes became known members of the local music scene.

Since the release of their demo, The Sikes have played over 75 shows. The band has 27,000+ myspace plays and remains in rotation with all major rock stations throughout Baltimore and Washington DC. In late March of 2006, The Sikes competed in the WHFS battle of the bands competition and won themselves a slot in the legendary WHFStival. This festival is recognized as being one of the largest music festivals on the east coast. The 2006 WHFStival roster included national acts such as Panic! At The Disco, The Misfits, Kanye West, Rise Against, Cypress Hill, Matchbook Romance, Matisyahu, and many more. In early August of 2006, The Sikes opened for national recording artist Jimmy’s Chicken Shack.

This female fronted powerhouse offers an unpredictable approach to popular music. With a strong emotional attack stemming from all corners, The Sikes are undeniable. Their highly anticipated EP is expected to debut late this summer.
