Pop maniacs The Pomonas (or Homo-nas, as they were affectionately branded in New York City last summer) used to tour all the time throughout the Midwest and the East coast until a tornado destroyed their Winnebago Warrior. Each Pomona has his own stringent version of what "good music" is, but they all see eye-to-eye when it comes to suckling Motown, The Beach Boys, Guided By Voices, Big Star and Badfinger. The quartet formed in December 2004, and after continuing to play in Lawrence and surrounding cities for the next six months, the band self-released its debut EP, "Jubilation," which was recorded on vintage analog equipment. The Pomonas finished their first full-length album, "When You're Electric," in March 2006, using a bunch of equipment they bought on eBay to convert their living room and kitchen into a recording studio. Next up, they boys are playing a pantload of shows around the midwest and beyond until late fall when they begin work on their next full-length.

The Pomonas

Pop maniacs The Pomonas (or Homo-nas, as they were affectionately branded in New York City last summer) used to tour like all the time throughout the Midwest and the East coast until a tornado destroyed their Winnebago Warrior. As they continue saving their allowances for a van, they're doing the best they can to sell plasma and continue practicing lessons 8 through 16 of "Joe Satriani: Hottest Fucking Licks of Known Human History." Each Pomona has his own stringent version of what "good music" is, but they all see eye-to-eye when it comes to suckling Motown, The Beach Boys, Guided By Voices, Big Star and Badfinger. The bass is distorted, the guitars always pack reverb, and you don't hear a fiddle anymore 'cause Lindsay now lives in North Carolina and teaches young schoolchildren facts and principles that will be widely disproven within the next 20 years. The quartet formed in December 2004, and after continuing to play in Lawrence and surrounding cities for the next six months, the band self-released its debut EP, "Jubilation," which was recorded in Lawrence's Underground Studios on vintage analog equipment - in fact, it was the same stuff used to record Jefferson Airplane's "Volunteers," an album almost as snore-enducing as "Jubilation." The Pomonas finished their first full-length album, "When You're Electric," in March 2006, using a bunch of equipment they bought on eBay to convert their living room and kitchen into a recording studio. The album contains 9 songs and clocks in at just over a half-hour, featuring fan favorites like "The Warrior," "Cub Astronaut" and the impeccably titled "Sex Auction." Next up, they boys are playing a pantload of shows around the midwest and beyond until late fall when they begin work on their next full-length, of which the guys already play about half in their current live set.
