The Kellys' infectious brand of rock melds powerful vocals with hook-driven songs as diverse as the genre itself. The Kellys (formed in late 2003) have come out swinging on the music scene with their first CD Greatest Hits. The band is sharing their second album, On the World Tour, third ep Overture and their 4th CD Opus. And most recently promoting their video on YouTube of their song Victory.

Blink

Blink.
My eyes are not the only ones to cry whenever you see fit. I?m gonna have a lot of fun watching you crawl through your regret. Cause I never saw the enemy or the animal in you. I had to blink my eyes a time or two. Wake me up before you leave. Just in case I?m still alive. Now you can take me out on Saturday. Hopefully until then I can survive. Why do you sleep in the daytime? Why do you make me coffee every night? Cause I never saw the enemy or the animal in you. I had to blink my eyes a time or two. Now it?s do or die for me and for you. Wow, I never thought so. I want to close my eyes. I want to close my eyes.

Time Off

Time Off.
Daisyhead daydreams, and adrenaline popsicles. Fire-fueled hot air balloons are floating into purple tornados. Pink bowties choking kangaroos, setting trends for nature. I?m an acrobat, I?m a magician, and furthermore, I?m a creature. I sit back and watch the passing time. On this weeks vacation in my mind. I might go crazy, wondering why it?s got to be only in my mind. Taking off gets me off for just an inkling of this episode. Drifting off gets me off this idiot perception of having to explode. Excuse me while I disappear behind the air. Pardon me while I confiscate this area under my hair. And sit back and watch the passing time. On this weeks vacation in my mind. I might go crazy wondering why it?s got to be only in my mind.

Bio

The embodiment of ind music lies deeper than six feet under. It's not easy to find tucked away in a cold northeast Ohio town. But The Kellys are going to make sure the world does not have to search for them. They will be coming to you; so be prepared. Since 2003, The Kellys have been hard at work honing their sound. With their first album, Greatest Hits (2004), the band has been able to nurture their sound into something more powerful. Taking the ideas and values of Rock and Roll and splicing it with their own musical ambitions, The Kellys have created something completely unique and revolutionary in their studio effort, On The World Tour, Overture, recently published DVD and new album Opus.
By blending the amazingly powerful vocals of singer Kelly McCracken with the unique musical styles of guitarist Nick Rossi, bassist Dan Drummond and drummer Matt Holko, The Kellys have been able to create their own pseudo-genre of Rock. Combing elements of nearly everything they've ever heard with true originality has provided The Kellys with an artistic freedom of which they will never let go. Accomplishments abound with having their album on the shelves of Best Buy and on CDBaby.com; receiving National Radio airplay at 130 stations across the country through CMJ college music campaign; and building a large faithful following. Kellys momentum drives on with placing in the GuitarCenterProjectRockStar competition at the House of Blues and winning a substantial prize package which includes a performance at Blossom Music Center in 2007 and featured in Scene Magazine. Shows in Pittsburgh, New York City and Cincinnati are stretching the boundaries of touring reach. The Kellys are proud of their accomplishments. And direly passionate about their aspirations.

The Kellys kicking off ?World Tour?

It's too early to tell where The Kellys? ?World Tour? may end, but it starts in the Mahoning Valley.
The Warren-area band has several CD release parties planned for its second release, ?On the World Tour.?
The band has seen several changes since the release of 2004?s ?Greatest Hits,? including a 50 percent change in the lineup. Lead singer Kelly McCracken and bass player Moe Angelo now are joined by Joel DeGenova on guitar and the singularly named Civ on drums.
?My bass player Moe and I struggled for a little bit, losing a guitar player, then losing a drummer,? McCracken said. ?Joel and Civ just fell into our laps one day, and I couldn?t ask for more. (They bring) creativity, for sure, and drive. Joel has been in bands for years, and all he?s ever wanted is to be in a band an be secure in it, and know that we?re booking shows and moving forward.?
?On the World Tour? features eight rock songs, most of which are built around McCracken?s powerhouse voice. She said each band member contributes in the songwriting process with her lyrics and vocals usually as the final component.
Some of the songs date back to earlier incarnations of the band, and others are more recent, but all have been audience-tested at The Kellys? local gigs.
??Blink? is going to be the No. 1 played song,? McCracken said. ?We have it up on a few sites on the Internet already.
?We have a few slower songs on there that people will love too, but we don?t want to come out with the slow songs first.?
The Kellys are using its own Web site (thekellysmusic.com) and its MySpace site (myspace.com/thekellys) to promote the record, and the band started its own label, Rukus, to distribute the CD.
The first of three scheduled CD release parties is planned Friday at Cedars Lounge in Youngstown, where The Kellys will perform with The Cheats and Beefist.
Other CD release parties are planned March 4 at Club 441 in downtown Warren and March 10 at Crest Entertainment Center in Warren.
Last year the group traveled to Memphis, Tenn., where it finished third in a national Roots of Rock Band Battle sponsored by Jillian?s, and McCracken said the band hopes to expand its reach with more shows outside of the area.
?Everybody in the band is willing to go anywhere we have to,? McCracken said. ?We just want to get it out there.?
