The Gospel Travelers of Indianapolis,Indiana started or shall I say, was originated in November of 1975 by (The now honorable REV.)Johnny Douglas. They traveled thoughtout the country, speading the joy of Jesus Of Christ.
The sound they were playing was the good old fashion quartet sound. Many years passed,and many of the ("OLD GUARD")were called into the ministry including the founder(The Honorable Rev.Johnny Douglas).I can't recall the name of all the former members right now, but they are with us in prayer. When Pastor Johnny Douglas was called to Pastor he turned the reins over to his son(Stanley Douglas).Now Stan passed on this year (2010).
We would like to take this time to let you know who the("NEW GUARD")is. The Gospel Travelers of Indianapolis,Indiana is:
Randall Rosenthall:bassist,composer,arranger,
lead singer,bg-singer,writer. Todd Dedeaux:keyboards,background singer,arranger,composer. Rodney Martin: lead singer, background singer.
Matt Franklin:keyboardist, arranger, background singer. Mark (HE-MAN) Fowler bassist,drums,keyboards,lead guitar,background vocals.
Here are the members that have finished their course on this side.
The much missed Stanley(BIG PAPA)Douglas:
bassist, lead singer,lead guitar,back ground vocals. Kenny(DADDY LOVE)Priestly:Keyboards,sax,trumpet,lead singer,lead singer,Preacher,Pastor.
The new guard of "GT". At this point years went by and many members came and went but, Stan remained faithful and God bless him with a new group of young men.These new young men were eager to sing and play for God.The group(GT)has been to the QUARTET convention in BIRMINGHAM,AL.,they did great.The boys then formed a new sound and style of gospel music that will enlighten all generations,young and old. Together they make a sound that speaks to your soul and will strenghten your faith.
The purpose of their ministry is to reach out to the community, and ensure to everyone that God is real. Gospel music is about speading the love of God to those who know him, those who want know hlm , and those who are in need of him ,and those who are in need of him ,The music that we write,arrange,and sing is important to us as well as the listeners.
We want to make sure we are representing our father(GOD)in the best in best possible way by singing and playing the gospel for real and not just for show.
