Bio

TEA is a solo artist, a very solo artist. She constructs her songs out of a recording studio she built herself in San Francisco’s Mission District. Here she writes all the songs, sings, plays all the instruments, produces, engineers and mixes everything herself creating a unusual intimacy between herself and the listener. With a strong, evocative voice and unique slide guitar playing TEA created a beautiful, emotionally grabbing, debut pop album in 1998 that inspired the critics to say: “a lovely, soulful voice”, “a dynamite and diverse CD”, “full of brilliant song craft and brawny guitar”, “lush and perfectly understated”.

TEA has been represented by MainMan (David Bowie, John Cougar Mellencamp, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop), captured on film by the legendary Mick Rock (Queen, Tori Amos, Bowie), and featured in the PBS documentary, “Strings Attached”, about women guitar players. She produced a young, all girl punk band, Vyvyan and was tapped to compose a soundtrack for the film, Drop, that played the international film festival circuit and on international TV. Now TEA is back with the release of her much-awaited 2nd release, “This Too”, which features lush, organic, almost orchestral arrangements of her voice and guitar.

As a member of the seminal San Francisco band, Her Majesty the Baby, TEA has worked alongside such notable producers as Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith, Suzanne Vega, Soul Asylum) and Greg Hawkes (the Cars) and has shared the stage with such top-notch acts as P.J. Har
