As a kid, I would make beats with my hands - on desks, walls, books, almost anything. I made music with other kids in the streets of Southeast, Washington, DC, using buckets, cans, bottles, sticks and my voice.

I started playing drums in college as drummer for the Air Force Academy Gospel Choir and continued playing drums in various different church choirs across the US. I formed a band, "The Upper Room: A Gospel Jazz Band", with two other guys from my church in Ogden, Utah.

Now, I create Moody instruMental Music, what I call "Orchestrated Hip-Hop" and "Cinematic Sounds" for listening pleasure.

Description

I'm just a composer/producer who's trying to get his music heard around the world.

I create InstruMental music, what I call "Orchestrated Hip-Hop" and "Cinematic Sounds" for listening pleasure.

History

As a kid, I would make beats with my hands - on desks, walls, books, almost anything. I made music with other kids in the streets of Southeast, Washington, DC, using buckets, cans, bottles, sticks and my voice. We had our "Junkyard Band" and would draw nice crowds, considering we were playing with trash. But that's when I learned true creativity. When life gives you trash, make something beautiful out of it and share it with the world. That's my motto.

I started playing drums in college in the Air Force Academy Gospel Choir and continued playing drums in various different church choirs across the US. I formed a band with two other guys from my church in Ogden, Utah. We called ourselves "The Upper Room: A Gospel Jazz Band".

I started rapping in college with my sights set on the music biz, but I'm a chronic introvert, so I knew that path wouldn't work for me. (I like being by myself too much.) I started DJ-ing and making beats with my dreams of becoming a producer. Now, my dream is more focused on composing music for film and television.

Style

I use words like "Big", "Deep" and "Powerful" to describe my musical style. I hop genre boundaries quite often, but most of my work has the heavy beat foundation of Hip-Hop. I inject the long and deep string movements as "Classical" elements most of the time, all punctuated by massive horn sections to announce the climactic points of my tracks.

My music is mostly on the "Low End" - meaning that it can be sad, somber and emotional. I tend to reflect feelings of anger, urgency or tension with tracks, but not always. At times my music is gives the feeling of hope and optimism. Overall, it's my musical expression of contrasting, conflicting thoughts and feelings inside my head and heart.

Influences

Gospel, Blues and R&B were played all the time in my home growing up. I was born when Disco died, giving way to Rap and Hip-Hop. It's not enough to say that I love Hip-Hop like an old high school friend. I used to "steal away" to listen to Rock and Rockabilly in my high school days. I discovered Classical in college.

Too many individuals to name, but off the top of my head...

Bobby Bland and B.B. King, Mahalia Jackson, Sam Cooke, The Jacksons, Aretha Franklin, Earth Wind and Fire, LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Eric B. & Rakim, EPMD, King-T, Public Enemy, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Common, Nas, Mobb Deep, 2Pac, NWA, Dr. Dre, Ice-T, Ice Cube, DJ Quik, Ghetto Boys, Scarface, Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, MC Lyte, Biggie, Jay-Z, Genesis, Journey, Bruce Hornsby and The Range, Madonna, Prince, Debussey, Mozart, Bethoven, Handel, Hans Zimmer...
