Ben has been working under the pseudonym of Switchback only since 2001 but has been songwriting,singing and performing since 1989. He has been heavily influenced by the early 80s funk and 80s-90s classic/garage house that he grew up listening to. He says "I love any music that makes me wanna dance, that moves me, that touches my soul." Some of the artists he loves are- Murk boys, Danny Tenaglia, MAW,David Morales, Steve 'Silk 'Hurley, Ralphi Rosario, Joey Negro, Chaka Khan and Joi Cardwell among others.
