Bio

SMR was created in 1992 as the brainchild of Krueger POD and SINESTRO. The band had humble beginnings, using a Sears turntable, a Radio Shack mixer, an 8-second sampler and a bass. SMR really took off in 1994 when Krueger POD joined a rock band and solidified his unique vocal styles, while SINESTRO began producing beats with a computer. With a blend of live instrumentation and sampling, SMR recorded The Porch Tapes, a collection of five songs unlike anything the band members had ever heard. The resulting songs, in fact, perplexed SMR, leaving them wondering why nobody had ever done this style before. Listeners agreed. SMR's Porch Tapes won WRFL (Lexington, KY) 88.1's 1995 Battle of the Bands competition. With more experience, better recording qualitites and the addition of Rich Till on guitar, SMR's next big batch of songs were accepted through the Taxi A&R service (no small feat), and SMR received letters of interest from such labels as Caroline Records. These songs are "Salt of the Earth," "Shoveltongue" and "The Science." Unfortunately, with two members in Wisconsin and one in Kentucky, SMR was unable to finish new material in time to negotiate with the big labels. SMR has taken the event as inspiration, and has continued to improve their music. With the latest batch of material on the album Pink Taboo, SMR hopes to recapture the interest of the music industry bigwigs.
