2002 was a breakthrough year for SMEER and 2003 has started with a bang!
SMEER are Ryan Leclair – Vocals, Bryan Cote – Bass, Deny Boucher – Guitar, and Niall Mellors – Drums.
The band recorded their first, self-titled EP at Soundwerx Studio in May 2002. SMEER made such an impression in the studio that producer Dominic Condo arranged for the people at Coalition Entertainment (www.coalitionent.com), a top Canadian entertainment management company, to take a look at the band. Coalition boasts a successful roster of talent including well-known Canadian recording artists Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, Joydrop and Simple Plan. After one meeting with President Rob Lanni and other top executives, SMEER signed on with Coalition and is being ‘shopped’ to industry.

I have to wonder if this band is ever misspelled as "smear" because with their grinding, aggressive, agitated and tastefully abrasive sound, it sure as heck sounds like *something* is being pulverized. If you like your hard rock/alt metal totally raw with emotion, unrestrained, loud and artistically violent, Smeer is a band you don't want to sleep on. Conducive to speeding tickets, causing inflated senses of personal power and meeting your own personal held-down, festering angst, "Loud & Clear" is an album that will move through you and take you over, and like a scrub-brush, will have all those greasy pockets of "I've-had-enough!" worked out of your system in one listen. Simply put, if it's powerful, crushing, hard rock you want, search no more.
