SF Bio

Smack Factory officially reformed in January of 2005. Prior to 2005, SF was mostly Greg and Corey rehearsing in a basement with a revolving door of drummers and bass players.

In January of '05, Greg and Corey recorded 2 songs at Corey's house, Have It and Uh Yeah Shit. The two tracks were entered in 95.5 WBRU's annual battle of the bands called the Rock Hunt. Much to their surprise, and completely lacking a drummer and bass player, SF was chosen as one of eight semi-finalists out of over 300 submissions.

Greg and Corey contacted Jim Perreault and Ray Tremmell (former SF members), to see if they would rejoin SF for the Rock Hunt and they agree. It was a mere 2 weeks before the show.

It just so happened that Jim and Ray were playing in a cover band with Jim's guitarist brother, Rick. Rick was also asked to join SF for the Rock Hunt as a 2nd guitar, which SF had NEVER had and Rick agreed. So there it was...the first incarnation of Smack Factory as a 5-piece ever!

Three rehearsals and two weeks later, the WBRU Rock Hunt hosted the first gig that this SF line-up ever played together. Although SF did not come out as finalists, they were left with an immense feeling of accomplishment, having put together a crushing thirty minute set for the fans in Providence.

Shortly after the Rock Hunt, Ray returned to his other musician responsibilities and Rick moved from 2nd guitar to bass. This is how the SF line-up has remained to this day. Throughout 2005 SF has played nearly 20 different venues, with repeat appearances at many and are itching to spread their wings further.

2006 is looking great for SF, having been voted Best Loud Act by the fans and readers of the Phoenix. In just over one year, SF has received the recognition and respect of their peers and has cemented a place in the Rhode Island music scene and in RI music history.
