Sky Nelson has received songwriting awards with West Coast Songwriter's for Best Song and Best Performance, and from Indie International Song Contest for "Live in Love" and "We Are the Ones (We've Been Waiting For)". His newest work, "The World Ocean", is a prophetic singer-songwriter album inspired by dreams of giant tsunamis and rising water levels. It is written for a time of immense global change and overwhelming transitions.

Sky is also a physicist and has developed a theory on the physics of meaningful coincidences or "synchronicity". His theory has been presented at a number of conferences and organizations, and is forthcoming for publication in the Journal for Scientific Exploration. The theory is based on understanding how quantum mechanics applies to our everyday world, and it deals with several metaphysical questions. Sky has had two articles published in New Thought publications in 2009 on the physics of synchronicity.

Bio

Sky Nelson's gift is an unwavering hope and belief in the ability of humanity to create the kind of world we want to live in. Through his music he strives to make peace in his own life and then to offer peace to the world beyond. Often compared to the style of Elton John, Billy Joel, James Blunt, or John Mayer, Sky’s sound is bold and grounded, hopeful and passionate, shedding, as one fan put it, “a light which casts no shadow.”

An activist in spirit, Sky takes a different approach to the issues that impassion him. Human dilemmas are not about politics, but about the power of the individual: the power to think for oneself, to care for others, and to take bold yet respectful action. Our ability to make change hinges upon how we relate to each other as people.

Sky stands apart from the others in his field with his deeply personal, thoughtful lyrics and intelligent, trained musicianship. Armed with nearly 30 years of musical experience, from funk to jazz to classical, his keyboard skills will undoubtedly make you want a second listen. However, personal success, though important, is secondary to contributing to the effort of moving humanity forward. Sky has done the work of the inner warrior, and has lived to tell the story.

Sky's piano playing has been largely influenced by the seemingly disparate influences of Keith Jarrett, Dr. John, George Winston, The Beatles, and Beethoven, not to mention songwriters like George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and many modern rock influences.
