Shawn (Everette) Rogers is a singer, songwriter, and producer who is running hard after a vision to produce music that genuinely relates to the lives of Christians, and encourages non Christians to believe in Jesus Christ. An evangelist by gifting and a musician by talent, he wants God to be able to use his music to draw people, and his lyrics to change them. ?God is using my talent of music to proclaim His word to a sleeping people and a lost world,? he says.
Having taken his sound to the stages of the VIBE MUSIC FEST in 2005 to sharing the stage with Joann Rosario in NYon the Jesus On the Water Boat Ride in 2005, Everette has begun to touch the hearts upon which God wants to shed His life-changing light. He is thirsty to fulfill his dream of evangelizing with the solid message of Jesus Christ and has his hands on every aspect of getting his music from his heart to the ear of the listener. With a degree in Audio Engineering from Five Towns College, years of professional vocal training, and production experience in recording studios, begun at a young age, Everette is able to write his own lyrics, produce the music to accompany the lyrics, and mix all of his songs.
Having the ability to do this for years, Everette was privileged to have one of his original songs featured 98.7 Kiss FM, a major New York radio station during his years of writing R&B material. After performing at an open audition in Manhattan, he was offered a recording contract with Famous Artist Associates, a management company affiliated with Motown Records. However, ?I found that the only way that I could truly be satisfied with my life and music was through Christ,? and that ??in order for my music to get to the next level, I was required to make the music His,? he says.
Now residing in Baltimore, MD, where he attained his Bachelors degree in Communications from Morgan State University (1995) and performed at Maryland?s largest African American heritage and arts event (AFRAM Expo), sharing the stage with Commissioned, Kirk Franklin, and John P. Kee, Everette is preparing to release Answers, his first project (due in stores soon). Featuring songs like ?Answers? (title cut) and ?Share Eternity With Me?, this project presents current day issues, pointing to securing one?s eternity with God and reading His Word as critical decisions to apply to life. ?A stupid person doesn?t plan for his future. It?s your eternity, man. Read the Bible. It?s the best plan you?ll ever find,? he says.
Singing sensation Shawn Everette is sure to catch the eye of the Contemporary Gospel music scene in the near future. His hip, infectious singing style and stage presence captivated us throughout his set. ?Lord, I Give Thanks? opened up in a capella, showing off Bro. Shawn?s vocal range as he showered us in a polished and tight 3-part harmony, ?Lord, I give thanks for all of Your mercy, Lord, I give thanks, You carried me through.? Then his silky, soulful tenor blended into the track as he poured out his heart in thanks to the Lord. The funky, bass-driven ?All Praise? reminded us that we have to give God just that no matter what we are going through. Then everybody was truly feeling the power and substance of ?Answers?, where Bro. Shawn assured us that no matter how perplexing our lives become, God has the answers to our questions.
