Press Info

8355 is the first CD from Sandi Kay Doehrman, a Phoenix artist who has played for years in Arizona resort lounges. The CD features a mix of musical styles, with folk, pop, country and even a little reggae all evident. Sandi plays acoustic guitar and keyboards, and handles the vocals. She is aided by the addition of acoustic and electric guitars, bass (played by her husband Doug), and drums. Although 8355 was recorded in a home studio, the sound quality is excellent, as is the mixing.

The title of the CD, 8355 is the house number where Sandi grew up in Romeo, Michigan, and many of the eleven songs are reflections of those growing-up years. The lyrics are on the straightforward side, yet there is a charm to them that keeps any sentimentality from becoming cloying. The thing that elevates 8355 above many releases of its type is Sandi's beautiful, clear voice, the well-done arrangements, and some really nice guitar work by Billy Marovich.

Bio

A long time ago…a 12-year-old girl sat with her legs hanging out of a barn hayloft, playing a beater guitar and singing at the top of her lungs. Yeah, it was me. Ever since I can remember, that is what I’ve been doing: playing, singing and songwriting.
Years go by…and now a Phoenix resident, I have performed at many of the Valley’s finest clubs as a solo act and in the band, The Glass Act. Lately, I have been playing at The Java Jive Coffeehouse as a solo and Shannon’s Grill with my band, The Sandi Kay Band, showcasing my original songs.
I just released my first CD, titled 8355, which consists of almost all original songs. One song, “Between the Lines,” was written, recorded and produced by Emmy Award winning producer, Otto D’Agnolo.
Why is the title 8355? That is the address of the house that I grew up at in Romeo, Michigan. The songs on the CD are reflections of people and times in my past. With a little folk, pop, country, even reggae mixed in, I hope you hear something that touches you!
