Rodric King Bio

I'm Rodric King from Jacksonville, Florida. I picked up a felony on my record a month or so before walking for my high school diploma back in 2003. A fight in school sent me to jail. Since that situation my life has been so hard. I've been homeless on numerous occasions in Jacksonville and Atlanta, Georgia. My major goal is never to sell drugs in order to provide for my children.

I had to become an entrepreneur, but not by choice. I couldn't accept being another statistic as a black man. Every business I ran failed and it took five years to start my first business. After my baby mother gave up on me she left me. That is when I left Jacksonville, Florida to look for a professional career on a national scale. I left Florida as a homeless father. In order to eat at night I sung for money. Singing for multiple groups or individuals was exciting. Yes, I was in a crisis, but singing freed me from my situation even though it was for a moment.

At that moment in Jacksonville I made a decision to take singing to the next level. Then I left Florida to end up in Atlanta, G.A... I felt that I was ready for the spotlight. I'm a very cocky person. I remember my first show my manager got me at, "Apache Cafe'" in Mid-Town, near downtown Atlanta. These artists were on a totally different level. I got on stage and I gave it a try with the in house band. I was horrible, but from that moment on I was a student. That was three years ago. I have met famous artist in the industry, and I drilled them. I asked them so many questions to push myself to the next level. I started taking vocal lessons. I learned how to perform. I even learned how to write music.

All of the pain I encountered in my life and the lessons I've learned will be felt through my music. I cannot wait to perform in front of millions. Gas stations, grocery stores, malls all across the East coast. I've sung to hundreds of people in those environments. I ensured them they would see me on television and I meant it. I'm always trying to advance in my singing career. Why you might ask? I never have been able to do for my children. I'm channeling that negative energy and life experience into real music.
