Rhenium, a rock band, reaches new heights and new fans with the release of their album, Absent Thoughts. With a demo, EP, and two full-length self-released albums under their belts, the men of Rhenium are reaching people all over the world. Using their tenacity and passion together since 1996, many people were quick to assume the best from Rhenium. Comprised of Charlie Ray; guitar, Chris Ray; bass, Eddie Pierce; singer, and Matt Stinson; drums, the band's musical interest and ideas were transformed into 22 original songs in the summer of 2002. As always, the band knows fans are the essential element. The onstage chemistry is fantastic, and is felt by old and new fans alike. Frontman Pierce commented, "I had a debate with someone on what's the difference between a musician and an entertainer. A musician plays what they want to play, an entertainer plays what the audience wants to hear. I would rather be an entertainer any day."

The 12 songs and 2 hidden tracks are a product of the band's persistence and talent. With one demo, one EP, two full length self-released albums, and their own website under their belts, the men of Rhenium are reaching fans all over the world.

Possessing musical aspirations and tenacity toward making an album since 1996, many people were quick to assume the best from Rhenium. Comprised of Charlie Ray; guitar, Chris Ray; bass, Eddie Pierce; singer/frontman, and Matt Stinson; drums/synthesizer, the band's musical interest and ideas were transformed into 22 original songs in the summer of 2002. However, it wasn't always easy in the beginning.

Charlie Ray began searching for the right musicians to make the band what it has evolved into today, a one-of-a-kind band. Like many bands, the biggest challenge was finding the right people who could give the band personality. Charlie found a bassist in his brother, Chris Ray, leaving room for a drummer and a frontman. "Finding appropriate singers and drummers is not always fun, as any band member will tell you. You need luck to get them," explains Charlie. With hopes of finding a singer that could match the dynamics of the music, the Ray’s posted advertisements over college campuses, music stores, and websites. After many auditions for the perfect singer, Pierce came in and blew the competition away with his rendition of Lost. "The second he came to my door, I noticed his awesome personality and voice; perfect for a frontman," adds Charlie. All that was left to discover was the perfect drummer. Finding a drummer that was dedicated and able to make the music come alive was just as much of a challenge. "I needed someone that could pull off many of the ideas I programmed into the drums," mentions Charlie. Stinson was just the man, with his techno mind, amazing piano playing, and his fantastic work on the drums. "I just play what they tell me too and I smile, and have fun while doing it," explains Stinson. The band was complete, but missing an essential element, a name.

That element was Rhenium. Charlie states "after a little bit of research, we found the chemical element 'Rhenium' which is actually pronounced differently than we pronounce the band name. Essentially, Rhenium is a transitional metal on the periodic table of elements. It transitions from soft to hard metal which describes exactly how our band works." At times melodic, at times fast, at times soft, the band matches its name.

Onstage the chemistry is fantastic, with fans from all over cheering, moshing, and singing along with the music. Frontman Eddie Pierce typically brings fans up onstage to sing with him. Regarding his stage presence, Pierce commented recently, "I had a debate with someone on what's the difference between a musician and an entertainer. A musician plays what they want to play, an entertainer plays what the audience wants to hear. I would rather be an entertainer any day."

Long-term fan Anastasia Hoff states, "the band is really down-to-earth. They take time to listen to what other's think about the music, and make lyrics that fans can relate to in their everyday lives." Signing autographs and taking pictures is what Rhenium often does after shows. New fans surface with an interest to hear more of what the band has to offer. With a large fan base, street team, website, full-length CD, and tenacity, the world will be seeing a lot more of Rhenium in the future.
