Currently playing the Southeast with BUCK05. Just the best damn thing that nobody knows about.

Philip Buchanan

Philip Buchanan aka Buckyhawg is a singer/songwriter hailing from Atlanta Georgia. With a whiskey voice and honest lyrics about life, love and the southern tradition. Philip is electrifying on stage bringing a certain passion missing from many artist today, he truly loves his audiences. Philip has a long history of family musicians playing country gospel and mountain music and the roots run deep within him and his songs in style and word. Having listened to all the country classics growing up such as Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, and Johnny Horton all are influences in the songs along with a lot of current songwriters such as Charlie Robison, Steve earle, and Lucinda Williams.

Philip Buchanan has written a large catalog of diverse music over the years but always holds true to the roots. What You See Is What You Get was released in 1995 with the Roadhawgs and had lots of Major interest. Left Turn At Albuquerque was the follow up in 1997. Philip has shared the stage with numerous artist over the years along with having songs in movies and TV shows. After placing in the top 40 of Nashville Star Philip realized this was not the avenue for him, he hated going through the bullshit associated with these shows and went back to doing what he does best. Writing songs and playing live. Philip is currently playing around the Southeast as a solo artist and with Buckofive the best band in the world. Philip is currently recording a fresh new album as a solo artist along with a Buckofive band album, so be looking for their releases in early 2010. In the meantime get out to your local club and request Buckyhawg.

Philip, please tell me how I may purchase your music, it's absolutely fantastic.
I don't believe you could write or sing a bad song if it killed you.
We've meet several times in the late 90's through your then drummer Todd Johnson.
At the Last Watering hole again at the 9 lives saloon (I think that's the name) and finally at the Macon Oprah House where you blew ARS off the stage.
I'm retired from music, formally with Geffen Records in the 80's then Atlantic in the 90's.
