Peter McVeigh

Peter McVeigh is a singer songwriter from Belfast, Ireland.
Born in 1985 his musical interest began at a very young age, experimenting with a variety of instruments before finally
focussing on his vocals, guitar and piano.

Throughout these years Peter has been inspired by bands such
as Travis, Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox Twenty. Listening to these bands was his main drive behind his songwriting as Peter
aspired to write songs as good as the ones he was listening to.

Peter took his musical talents to another level and formed a band (Sygn) while at school with two friends. They played many gigs
and entered Battle of the Bands competitions from which they received great reviews. One critic described them as having
“all the sounds of an early matchbox twenty”.
While another said “of all the bands I have heard in previous
rounds of the Battle of the Bands, Sygn have the best lyrical
content”.

This gave Peter the determination and confidence to continue his musical development. The band continued for a short period, but eventually Peter broke from the band and decided to work alone as a solo artist. Spending a lot of time trying to record his songs to a high standard, Peter focussed on networking and trying to get as many people to hear his music as possible through friends and internet sites.



This lead to Peter’s eventual meeting with American business man, Dave Kerzner. Dave saw potential in Peter and as a business man could see how Peter would be a good project to invest in. He provided Peter with music software, advice and recording sessions in LA to help develop his music writing.

As promising as it may have sounded, the distance between LA and Belfast was too much for an effective working relationship. Dave is no longer heavily involved in Peter’s music but still has an interest in him.
Soon after parting with Dave, Peter entered an online music competition on Overplay.com where one of the Judges, Mickey Modern discovered potential in Peter. Although there is no formal contract between the two, they work closely together on developing Peter’s style and compiling a substantial portfolio of songs that could eventually lead to a good record deal.

Peter currently works with a band and while developing his musical style, he is gigging mainly around Belfast.
