After over twenty years as a Boston turned Bay Area b-boy, rapper, producer, singer and then multi instrumentalist, Nyambezi made the latest in a long series of tranformational shifts in early 2008 - this time to singer/songwriter. Finding himself at odds with present day rap conventions, he named an alternative genre-"post hop hop"-and is currently performing it. In a time of collapsing institutions and a rising chorus for fundamental social change, Nyamezi's organic acoustic guitar driven rap/singing and message about conscious (r)evolution are at the forefront of the emerging new paradigm.

The Coming Wave- Post Hip Hop

Post Hip Hop will pick up where A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Jungle Brothers, etc., left off. It will be free to draw on musical traditions from across the globe, firmly rooted in its funky foundation of kick, snare, bass. It's Rap music for grown folks- a mature, socially aware crowd that wants to see their perspectives reflected. I want to see and hear things that take me beyond the drudgery of everyday reality- not deeper into it- opening up new opportunities for spiritual discovery. Many of us are ready for the return of peace and positivity, cooperation and community. We are ready to celebrate life.
Ultimately, Post Hip Hop is inevitable. It is part of a wider paradigm shift in planetary consciousness that is happening because it must, if life on earth is to continue in any meaningful way. Hip Hop, in its current state, is fundamentally unsustainable. Change is in the air. Post Hip Hop will challenge the audience with new visions of what’s possible.
