An experimental journey in the freestyle, unconscious mind……
Mr Basista, experimental freestyle lyricist and musical force, has recently released his debut solo album THUNK. The album is a culmination of his life’s musical experiences so far.
Since the age of 14 and his first mic battle, Mr Basista (Big In Japan) has been heavily involved in the UK music scene. An original member of the Def Con Crew, talented pianist, vocalist and producer, Basista has rapped and played alongside Britain’s hip hop elite.
Mr Basista’s sound takes influence from his varied and experimental life journey through music – he has hosted a number of Regular Live Nights, including hip hop radio show on Juice FM, as well as featuring on critically acclaimed mix tapes ‘Hipoperation’ & ‘Play times over’ for chameleon Records and Baggy Flag records.
He has gigged live all over the country for the last decade, sharing a stage with Skinnyman, Jehst, Mr thing, Phi Life Cypher, Blu rum 13, Dark Circle, Task Force, Tommy Evans, Killa Kella, Dr Syntax, Terra Firma, K–lashnekoff & Foreign Beggars to name a few.
2005 saw him ripping up centre stage in a headline line set alongside Live Funk collective The True Ingredients at Ministry of Sound.

Basista’s passion burns not only for hip hop but he believes exists to be indulged extensively, from a little Dub step (he currently hosts a dubstep/hip hop night with MC/producer Parody in Tunbridge Wells) to electro, indie funk and jazz roots, originally from South London, Mr Basista now resides in Kent – for the last 2 years Mr B has been writing, recording and producing his debut solo album, scribing his own experimental journey in the freestyle, unconscious mind…THUNK IS BORN.
