Michel Sherman

Michel Sherman, a San Francisco-area resident for over 20 years, was born in France. He began his classical guitar studies with Miroslav Jesic in New York, participated in numerous master classes, including some with Andrés Segovia, and continued learning on his own. In the late 1960s he studied the Renaissance lute with Joseph Iadone and the New York Pro Musica Antiqua. Later, he studied lute with Paul O'Dette, Hopkinson Smith, and Nigel North. He also studied flamenco guitar with Agustín Rios. He has a Masters degree in Economics from Georgetown University.

Michel has lived in 4 countries (in Europe, Asia, and the United States) and has played for international film festivals, theater, art galleries, weddings, diplomatic events, television, radio, films, and house concerts.

He also composes contemporary classical music for guitar and lute. His innovative first album, "The Earth Speaks", contains original guitar and lute music interwoven with beautiful sounds of nature. It has been praised as dreamy, evocative, and a magical mystery tour. Michel is a member of The Nature Conservancy, dedicated to protecting nature and preserving all life.

~ Recording Latin American and Spanish guitar music
~ Arranging his compositions for ensembles
~ Creating soundtracks for film, television & multimedia
