Melanie's first "guitar" was a plastic ukelele her parents brought back from Hawaii when she was four. She remembers taking it to kindergarten and really wishing she could play something on it.
In high-school and college she performed in acoustic rock groups, then started doing solo gigs in the Carolinas, particularly in and around Myrtle Beach.She spent a year in Paris in grad school and has taught college French. Her first CD, "Here Tomorrow, Gone Today" was released in 1996 (http://www.cdbaby.com) and was co-produced with Nashville guitarist Chris Cottros. She has recently completed a new album with Grammy-nominated producer Joe Taylor to be released in early 2004.
