Matt Shamblin was raised in a small rural West Virginia town. A place where Nadi Lite is on tap and the mullets run free. It is not uncommon there to hear the phrase Git er Done followed by the musings of five string Banjos and random barnyard animals screeching. He spent nearly 24 years there.

The musical styling of Matt Shamblin is the bastard red headed step child of Edward Van Halen, Sevendust, Warrant, Steve Vai, Tool, and many other artist or bands to numinous to mention. He has always had an affinity for 80s music partially because that is where he cut his teeth as a musician. Edward Van Halen, in particular, played a very large role in Matts development as a player.

The music of Ancient Lands cannot be ascribed to any of the afore mentioned artist and bands. It is simply Matt Shamblin, uncovered from the rock of his former home in rural West Virginia.

Bio

Matts upcoming independent release Ancient Lands was almost entirely written in that place. Many of the tracks are from the many stories in his life. The title track is about feeling lost in the world he was living in at that time, for someone such as himself, he didnt quite fit in with the rest of the local population. He is very outspoken about his beliefs and has been known, on occasion, to offend the sensibilities of those rednecks that were around him, for having the outrageous rocker personality he does.

Other tracks on the record including I Cant Remember and Smile On Me deal with the loss of loved ones. The former being the imagined death of his first real friend Pepper a.k.a. Torn his dog. The latter being the very real death of his grandmother Mary Virginia Nary who raised him as her own son until he was 10 years old. She is also the one to whom the record is dedicated for her strength, love, compassion, and belief.

The first track of Ancient Lands sets the mood for the rest of the record its very theatrical as Matt himself is. Beginning with a symphonic chant of an ancient ritual long buried and forgotten in the sands of Egypt. Then kicking and screaming, the true depths of Matts psyche are revealed with driving rhythm and relentless resolve. The music of Ancient Lands cannot be ascribed to any of the afore mentioned artist and bands. It is simply Matt Shamblin, uncovered from the rock of his former home in rural West Virginia.

From a numbers standpoint Matt has a very high conversion rate . In the many non-targeted marketing campaigns that Matt has initiated, he converts an average of 20% of males and females ages 15-27 into fans across the United States. Utilizing the demographic data from the 2000 census, we can speculate that in the United States alone Matt has a potential fan base in excess of 20 millilon people.
