STORY:
Matthew Shaw, a California native raised on sunshine, pop-punk and suburban sheen, can now be found writing and recording in his new, rainy and inspirational home of Seattle, Washington. Having skipped the typical band formation story, Matthew chose instead to openly explore the possibilities in his home studio… finding comparison and inspiration from artists such as Bright Eyes, John Vanderslice, Creeper Lagoon and Grandaddy.
With the momentum following his self released Constant Movement EP in the winter of 2003, Seattle's newly adopted singer/song writer has returned with what has already been described as indie-pop perfection… namely the bittersweet Ghosts in the Concrete.
Ghosts in the Concrete features 12 tracks of everything from samples, synthetic beats, acoustic guitar, fragile vocals and more. Not bound by genres and driven to experiment, this young musician has worked to create clever, driving and emotional sounds that explore the cost of the hustle of modern living…
With the release of Ghosts in the Concrete, and the continuing support of Burning Building Recordings, Endless Vertigo Music, KEXP 90.3FM and the Northwest music community, Matthew is widening his horizons and is excited to share his noise with those around him.
