Bio

Matt Salaverry decided to leave his full time corporate job at the end of 2003 to pursue his music career. Matt has long been known for his music and voice, but got side tracked after he finished college working for an investment bank. Bottom line, the musical passion burning within him could not be suppressed. He is clearly destined to do one thing and anyone who hears him will agree - he’s the real deal.

Matt took a hiatus from NYC for most of 2004 to work on an EP and has since returned to perform and promote his music. His self-produced work, on which he plays all the instruments, showcases his powerful vocals and backs it up with compelling songwriting, and dynamic instrumentation and production. His passionate vocals are delivered with a distinct understanding of melody and composition, while his charcoal grey tones and soulful style are undeniably captivating. The songs are catchy and especially profound when Matt unleashes his potent and rugged upper range. Matt’s music and voice have a universal appeal and he is sure to find a wide-ranging audience.

A Multi-instrumentalist, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, but left after one year to start a band. After a short stint he decided to attend the University at Albany. During his time there he continued to develop as an artist, performing and collaborating with different musicians, but when he graduated (with a BA in economics) he moved to New York and got a corporate job.

During those first couple of years he was able to write and record a never officially released EP, with tracks such as, I’ll Try, The Mystery & Slipping Away. The music was extremely well received by a broad range of listeners. During this time Matt Salaverry was occasionally a featured artist at BMI Singer/Songwriter showcases, and had some initial interest from several industry veterans.

For the next several years the corporate job became more demanding and Matt had less time for his music, but in November of 2001 he began spending his free time recording new songs and honing his production chops. Finally, at the end of 2003 he decided to leave the corporate world behind, take the leap of faith, and do what he was really meant to do. When you hear him sing, you’ll have not doubt it was the right choice.
