Matthew Morgan, a Chicago based singer and songwriter was born into a musical family and has been performing since the age of seven in many different venues. He grew up in Ohio where he attended music school, majoring in voice. After being diagnosed with a chronic illness in 2004 he took up guitar to help focus on recovering and generating positive thoughts. Though the recovery process is lifelong, this gave him the opportunity to truly combine his musical and vocal talent, social insight, poetic skills and form a unique style and sound that is fresh, and poignantly contemporary while remaining rooted in the tradition of acoustic sound.
In addition to writing/playing music Matthew is a visual artist and shows his artwork regularly in Chicago's historic Flat Iron Arts Building.
He sings and plays guitar/harmonica in the band Black Bottle Junction.
Matthew Morgan Music Bio
I write the songs that make the whole world sing, I write the songs of love and special things"...oh no, that's not me at all.
So, how would I describe my music?
I would classify myself as a songwriter who creates acoustic, ballady, poppy, folky, geeky, indie music that reflects life as I see it.
My songs come from my own understanding...or misunderstanding)...of being self aware that stems from many places including joy and peace, restlessness and anger, humor and pride, sadness, true relationships, and my own personal experience of living with a chronic illness. You can read more about that under the heading "LIving with CFS" located on the home page.
I write my songs for everyone and I hope that you enjoy them.
All my best... Matt
