The Australian-born, Charlottesville-raised Bell began singing at age 6. As an alto in the VA Consort Youth Choir, she performed at the National Cathedral & White House. After moving to NYC to study at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, her band became a fixture at Rockwood Music Hall & The Living Room.

While critics have likened her music to Fiona Apple or a young Joni Mitchell, Mariana counts among her own influences Shawn Colvin, Dave Matthews, & Ani DiFranco. A guest on radio stations nationwide & staple on many internet sites, her songs have garnered accolades from peers & critics alike. Australian-born singer/songwriter, Mariana Bell began singing at age 6. After moving to the US, she joined a prestigious Virginia choir, performing at the National Cathedral & the White House, but earned her guitar chops during her 6 years as a performer in New York City. Mariana counts among her influences Shawn Colvin, Bruce Cockburn, Radiohead, & Ani DiFranco. From her current Charlottesville, VA home base, she has been guest of radio, (notably 106.1FM The Corner and WNRN) & TV nationwide & her records are strong sellers on the indie-music website CDBaby.com. On her most recent release, Book, (December 2008), with the help of some industry notables, Mariana expanded from her folk roots into a new class of sophisticated, literary yet catchy & clean indie-rock. The title track won her Best Song of the Month in November at SongwriterUniverse.com.
