Life...One song at a time...

Marc was born in Brooklyn, but he's mostly a Jersey boy.

His high school band, The Blades of Grass, had a minor hit and got to tour with the Doors, Van Morrison, the Dave Clark Five and lots of other big names of the day. Quite a time for a high school kid.

After attending Colgate with a focus on philosophy and religion, he got a deal with RCA. But the most important thing in his life was the development of his band in Woodstock, NY. This became the vehicle for his creativity and for his adult life, altogether.

Throughout the seventies, this band created friendships and projects that shaped Marc as an artist. He performed and recorded with folks like Jack Dejonette, Eric Anderson, Rick Danko, Art Garfunkel and John Sebastian to name a few.

Married with two sons in the 80's, he scored commercials and won both the Mobius and the London International Advertising Awards for Best Original Music. His company, Black Market Music, developed a reputation for layered, world music compositions.

Marc also produced the 'American Children' CD during this time period. With help from great performances by Richie Havens, Taj Mahal, Maria Muldaur, Dave van Ronk and several others, the CD won the American Library Association award for Best Children's Album.

After his kids were grown, Marc found his way back into songwriting and performing. And then, about 5 years ago, he created a CD and film based on the poetry and experience of a stroke survivor who was in a coma for 21 days and only woke up after his doctors had pulled life support. This program, Stroke of Genius, has been inspiring folks at stroke support centers ever since.

Marc's most recent CD, Pictures of the Highway, was #34 for the year on the Folk DJ Chart. One tune, Ooh I Love My Coffee reached #6. This CD, recorded with Ray La Montagne rhythm section, was released in Europe just a few months ago.

Marc's songwriting has become quite influenced by political and social forces over the past couple years. He's sung No Fracking Way at rallies in several states and the song has been played at events as far away as Ireland and Australia. He also wrote and recorded Sometime a Spark, a tune that tells the story of Mohamed Bouazizi, the man who started the 'Arab Spring'. Within 3 days of posting this song, Marc was interviewed on Tunisian State Radio.

Basically, Marc is still living this life one song at a time. Singing and playing the same guitar he bought new in 1968. Heavens!
