Madelyn Cascio is a formidable singer/songwriter from the swampy side of Texas. She wins over fans and musicians alike with her distinctive voice, heartfelt lyrics, and sparkling personality. This petite white girl can wail with the best of them, and she's no poseur either. Raised on B.B. King, Big Mama Thornton and Bonnie Raitt, powerhouse vocals are a natural for her. She can shift from raw to elegant in a heartbeat. Cascio's vocal stylings and original lyrics show a command of her craft far beyond her years. A member of ASCAP, she has co-written with other artists, including Wally Wilson of Skyline Music Publishing, and Don Rollins (It's 5 O'clock Somewhere). Her songwriting skills have garnered notice in Nashville and L.A. Clifford Antone proclaims her as "the real thing". She has headlined gigs in the Southeast Texas area with her own band since she was 16 years old. Cascio also performs sellout acoustic shows in venerable smaller venues such as The LogOn C@fe in Beaumont, Texas.

BIO

Madelyn Cascio is a 19-year-old Austin musician that hails from the swampier side of Texas. Cutting her teeth on the blues was only natural in the area that put out Janis Joplin, Johnny and Edgar Winter and Uncle John Turner. She writes music, plays the guitar, and occasionally hammers it out on the keys. Thanks to her dad (a dentist), she has a dazzling white smile. Thanks to her mom, she's easy on the eyes. And thanks to God Himself, she can sing like nobody's business. This petite girl can wail with the best of them, and she's no poseur either. Raised on B.B. King, Big Mama Thornton and Bonnie Raitt, powerhouse vocals are a natural for her. She can shift from raw to elegant in a heartbeat. If Willie Nelson and Aretha Franklin had a love child, this would be her! Cascio's vocal styling and original lyrics show a command of craft far beyond her years. Armed with her guitar, Cascio wins over fans and musicians alike with her powerful pipes, heartfelt lyrics, and sparkling personality.

At fifteen, she drenched herself in the blues. Spending summers in Austin songwriting, she connected with local blues musicians and has had the opportunity to share the stage with some serious talent. She has opened for Miss Lavelle White at Steamboat, and wowed audiences at Antone's, Texas' home of the blues. While still in high school, Cascio opened for Wayne Toups in Louisiana and Little River Band in Beaumont, performing with Hoosier Daddy (a roots/rock band).
She has headlined gigs in the Southeast Texas area with her own band since she was 16 years old. Cascio also performs sellout shows in venerable small venues such as The LogOn C@fe in Beaumont, Texas.

Currently attending University of Texas in Austin, Cascio has the opportunity of working with heavy hitters in the music industry. Under the wing of Clifford Antone, Cascio has met with Pinetop Perkins, James Cotton and Earl Poole Ball. She has interviewed music luminaries such as Marcia Ball, Jerry Jeff Walker and Pat Green as part of an internship with Global Leadership Organization. This year, Cascio performed in Austin at the Instruments of Freedom Forum, and provided background vocals in the studio for Tony Scalzo (Fastball). She was recently chosen as a finalist in the Texas 10 Under 20 sponsored by Texas Music Project, performing at the Dallas Guitar Show and Music Fest in April. Currently working with a new band consisting of other University of Texas students, they are booking gigs for fall and spring while preparing for an independent CD release in early 2006.
