Mac Light
"Vibrant Pop, Exciting Country, World Class Songs for World Class Singers"
I can't remember a time when I wasn't making someone happy with my music. I was even surprised by how many people said how much the "serious" things I wrote meant to them.
I was born in Colorado into a musical family, my mother is a tremendous ear piano player. I studied at the University of Northeren Colorado and Northwesterrn University and was going to be a "serious" musician, but that changed. I college in Texas and then moved to Oklahoma where I got a job teaching in prison. I learned more in prison than my students I taught them music theory, songwriting and the like and they taught me how to touch someones life with a song.

When the Sun Hits Your Wings
Words and Music
by
Mac Light

From now on, all we have are memories
No regrets, no apologies
Let’s not talk about the things we’ll miss
Or even reminisce
Oh no, just remember this

Chorus
I wish I could give you the universe
And make everything you do bring you happiness
But promise me whether you can laugh or cry
When the Sun Hits Your Wings
Fly.

And I hope, you can smile and dream again,
Maybe laugh, be a friend
And I hope you find what you want most
Something small, or grandiose
And I hope you will make it last.

Chorus

I promise to be strong, when you’re gone
But take along the dream I have for you

Chorus

I Need the Moonlight
Words and Music by
Mac Light

Where is my knight in shining armor?
Someone who calls the next day.
Someone to talk with all night until the sunrise
With so much more left to say
No excuses and no more dead end affairs
No more losers, who just don’t care.

Chorus
I Need the Moonlight, reflecting soft in my eyes
I need the stardust, falling from the sky.
I need emotion, that funny feeling inside.
I need the romance, I Need the Moonlight.

What ever happened to devotion?
Someone who opens my door.
Someone to walk with by the ocean in the starlight
Isn’t that what love is for?
No more users and no more wasting my time
No abusers, my heart is mine.

Chorus

I just don’t need another uncommitted lover; not sure he’ll go or he’ll stay
I need somebody who thinks I’m special and who shows it.
Someone who treats me that way.

Chorus

Couldn’t somebody maybe stop and send me roses?
Couldn’t he sing me a song? I like to think that he is thinking of me right now,
Dreaming of me all night long.

Chorus

Bio

Mac Light has often been heard to say, “I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t making someone happy with my music.”

A native of Colorado, it was inevitable that, after high school, he would go on to the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. It was also inevitable that he major in Music Education and Music Performance at the same time. Being a trumpet player, he wrote a piece for his senior recital.

“I was surprised by how many people came up to me after my recital and said how much my Concerto for Trumpet meant to them… I guess that’s why I wrote the other one.”

The “other one” is his Sonata for Trumpet that he wrote for his master’s recital at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. After completing his Master of Music degree, Mac and his beautiful new wife Margaret, moved to Texas where he began a career in academia… but things changed along the way.

After being an instructor at Texas Lutheran College for five years, the Lights moved to Tulsa, OK, where Mac thought he was going to further his college teaching career. Having trouble securing a college job, he took a job that he thought he would only keep for six months while he looked for a “real job”. That job was teaching music Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

“I think I learned more in prison than my students. I taught them music theory, songwriting and the like and they taught me about how to touch someone’s life with a real message in a real song.”

While in Oklahoma, Mac also taught, through Bacone College, Music and Humanities to inmates. He was also blessed with a son, Monte. After eleven years the program was cancelled and Mac moved his family to Las Vegas.

Mac now resides in Las Vegas where he teaches elementary music along with his wife Margaret. His son Monte is a pre-professional acting major at their alma mater University of Northern Colorado.

In 2004, Mac wrote a song for the 100th anniversary of the founding of Las Vegas called Forever Las Vegas. Over 200 elementary school students who sang and played the accompaniment performed it in March. Later, the same song was performed, by children, for the Las Vegas city council by special request of Mayor Oscar B. Goodman. After the first performance a friend told Mac, “That song was better than what you hear on the strip!” Take that Wayne Newton.

Throughout the years, Mac has been performing and creating music. From trumpet player to conductor, songwriter and arranger, composer and film scorer, he has worked to craft all aspects of his musical experiences
