Loren Davidson’s music is best described as contemporary folk music with tropical attitude, Jimmy Buffett meets John Prine, Celtic meets Caribbean by way of Key West. His lyrics range from humorous to incisive, articulate yet heartfelt.

Loren’s second album, Tropical Troubadour, has just been released by Renaissance Island Music. Produced by Grammy nominee Roberta Donnay, this CD features such talented musicians as Robin Ruddy (Ray Stevens, Shania Twain, Terri Clark) on acoustic guitar, mandolin, and banjo, Kent Wells (Dolly Parton) on lead guitar, Barry Walsh on keyboards, and Jeff Cox (Billy Ray Cyrus) on bass. The project was recorded and engineered at The Parlor Studio in Nashville by John Saylor (Ronnie Milsap) and at Freemountain Studios in Novato, CA by David Freiberg (Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Starship). His first album, Songs From My Heart, was released in 2002.

Loren’s musical influences range from the classical and calypso music played at home during his youth and adolescence to folksingers such as Pete Seeger, James Taylor, and the Guthries, to popular musicians of the late 60s to mid 70s such as Jim Morrison and Keith Emerson. In recent years such performers as Jimmy Buffett, John Prine, Bob Marley, and Lord Buckley have added their own influences.

Loren has appeared at numerous northern California venues including the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, Espresso Garden in San Jose, the San Mateo County Fair, Palo Alto Festival of the Arts, and songwriter showcases in San Francisco and Sacramento. He has also performed in Los Angeles, Nashville, and Key West.

Loren currently lives, works, and plays in the San Francisco Bay Area.
