It's in the blood...

I was born in Pittsburgh PA. My mothers immediate family, grandpa and aunts and uncles were knee deep in original country music and so they created a band when I was in my early teens. I spent my summers mesmerized by their guitar playing, singing and even writing songs. Even though I could play the piano, it wasn't a passion and finally at age 16 my parents bought me my first guitar. A weekly lesson and I was hooked. I spent hours in my room learning to play till my fingers were beyond sore. I decided early on that I enjoyed writing my own music vs playing others. I felt like all the greats in folk and country and rock were there for me to learn from and they wanted me to write. I think there were days I would have preferred to sit in my room all day and write instead of going to school. Unfortunately I got a bit distracted and the guitar came in and out of the closet for many many years. Finally other priorities and a lack of confidence at that point in my life created a total writing shut down. I put my passion away for 20 years and 3 years ago realized that music was truly my soul so I bought a new Hohner acoustic, took a few refresher lessons and started writing again. The first couple years was rough. I had sooo! much bottled up in me that I was writing songs that had no true format and were over 6 minutes long. But it was good, I was writing. I recorded a couple songs and realized thru the process what was working and what wasn't. It was an expensive but very good learning curve. About a year ago I spent the holidays with one of my guitar playing Aunts in PA and she really helped to get me back in my groove. Since then I've finished 7 songs. A few I've re written. I've just recorded the acoustic you hear here. I am making my first music video and I write something everyday. I do micro manage my music, some songs taking me weeks or even months to get right, but when I do I know it. I've been playing out at open mic nights in my area and getting good feedback...guess I'm still humbled by it. I'm very excited to be on the right track with my passion and I am extremely gratefrul every day for the talent that I was given.
