La Verdad Bio

Five Southern California natives from the greater Los Angeles area comprise this urban group aptly titled "La Verdad" or The Truth. Plan B, Starr, S.I.R.E. and Unxpected lend their unique styles of rap and vocal melody to what has been described as a fresh and edgy sound. Fifth member DJ Phyz Ed has an impressive resume himself, touring and performing with artists such as Macy Gray and KRS-1. At its foundation is quality production by Cory Yothers a.k.a. C-Note who along with his sister, actress Tina Yothers formally of the hit television series "Family Ties" are pushing this group past all others in this genre.

La Verdad's first self titled album was a fusion of edgy urban tracks with hints of traditional Latin sounds. They had the privilege of working with guitar player Valerio formerly of the Gypsy Kings, Grammy award winner Ritchie Gajate on percussion and the Los Angeles based all female Mariachi Divas. La Verdad has just recently finished recording 14 brand new tracks. Naturally, music's gravitational pull has refined their sound to a place where they are perfectly poised to be the consummate universal group appealing to a wide demographic. The group is currently showcasing the songs "If You Want It", "Lluvia" and "Go" which show diversity from the high energy bilingual mixes of hip-hop, disco and contemporary vibes to organic hip-hop laced with acoustic guitar. These songs can be found on the brand new EP titled "La Lucha" available upon request.

La Verdad can best be described as the Latin counterpart to groups like Black Eyed Peas and the Fugees. They have perfected their sound by performing everywhere with artists such as Pit Bull, Lil Jon, Baby Bash, Don Omar, Sonora Dinamita and Cypress Hill just to name a few. This dynamic group has also performed live on various television shows such as "the Drop" on SiTV. Their music has also aired on cable television shows such as "The Shield", "Day Break" and "Bones".

Touring in December 2008, La Verdad performed in Tokyo, Japan and for U.S. Marines on bases in Okinawa. In Tokyo they debuted two cuts and interviewed on the biggest morning radio show Good Morning Garage on Inter FM 76.1 and interviewed with hip-hop radio show Joint One Radio. The group will grace the cover next month on BMR magazine also based out of Tokyo.

In stores now, La Verdad's music appears in the book/cd combo titled Extreme Entertaining Made Simple by Eduardo Xol the star designer of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
