Kynduvme is an Indie-pop outfit hailing from Long Island and Queens New York.Songwriters John B., and Chris Fasulo met at Five Towns Music College in 1996 through a mutual friend. They began writing songs together in ernest while both were finishing up their degrees at Queens and Five Towns respectively. In the beginning the two wrote songs that combined John's background in literature and sociology (he now teaches) with Chris' formal musical training (also a teacher) to produce a collection of sophisticated yet accessible songs.

With the current line-up in place the group finished writing its debut album
"Recipe for the Sunshine" in 2004. On it, the quartet combined diverse musical influences such as Dinosaur Jr., Jellyfish, Burning Airlines, the Replacements, Wings, and 50s Motown, with the wry lyrical sensibilities of Randy Newman, Leonard Cohen and the literature of Raymond Carver to produce an eclectic record that is bound together only by its pop sensibility.

Bio

Kynduvme is an Indie-pop outfit hailing from Long Island and Queens New York.Songwriters John B., and Chris Fasulo met at Five Towns Music College in 1996 through a mutual friend. They began writing songs together in ernest while both were finishing up their degrees at Queens and Five Towns respectively.

In the beginning the two wrote songs that combined John's background in literature and sociology (he now teaches) with Chris' formal musical training (also a teacher) to produce a collection of sophisticated yet accessible songs. As Chris stated in an interview in 2002

“we began to realize that what we were doing worked on twolevels, while the structures were simple and poppy, the music and lyrics were more interesting and maybe intricate than you would normally hear in pop music."

Although they continued to gig independently with other bands around Long Island, the two formerly created Kynduvme in 1997. Originally a 3 piece, they enlisted the help of Nat Kingsley a musician trained in Potsdam at the Crane School of music on guitars and the group quickly began to build up a following
in Long Island's independent music scene.

In 2001, the group parted ways with their original drummer but was hesitant to suspend playing live because of the momentum they had generated. It was then that they entered what they would dub their "spinal tap"
phase-getting numerous friends to fill in on drums for them at gigs. According to
Nat,

"we were practicing in a basement to recorded drum tracks that would skip at times, and we were kicking around the idea of playing live with them, because
we couldn't find anyone that felt right."

The 3 piece also continued to record with session drummers (many of these tracks made their way onto the 'enhanced cd' version of their new album), and luckily in the summer of 2002, the group was introduced to percussionist Josh Soboslai of Five Towns College. According to Nat,

"Josh was the perfect fit, he had an amazing sense of time and was able to be aggressive without compromising the pop roots of our sound."

Through Chris, now a professor at Five Towns College, the group was able to work with veteran indie producer John Agnello, who helpedgive their sound an indie integrity.

Kynduvme's musical friends include Lakota, Slow Car Boost, Sprout and The Putrid Flowers, some of the more important emerging acts in the New York-Long Island indie scene right now, their music has been featured on major New York stations such as K-Rock, WLIR, WBAB, and numerous college stations in the Northeast.
Since recording they have kept up their active touring schedules and play important venues such as the Downtown The Vanderbilt, the Elbow Room(R.I.P), The Village Pup regularly.
