Jonathan Barlow received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in guitar performance from the University of Denver (DU) under famed pedagogue Ricardo Iznaola.

Jonathan has premiered works by Stephen Goss (Gnossienns, after Erik Satie, U.S. Premier and Under Milk Wood Songs, U.S. Premier) and Richard Boukas (BaiĆ£otude, World Premier).

Jonathan is privileged to be a featured recording artist with Azica Records whose roster includes such greats as Jason Vieaux, David Leisner and Grammy winner Bill Cunliffe.

An avid arranger, Jonathan is published by Clear Note Publications.

Jonathan Barlow received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in guitar performance from the University of Denver (DU) under famed pedagogue Ricardo Iznaola. Jonathan graduated with top honors. Recognized as a distinguished performer, Jonathan was awarded: First Prize-Lamont Chamber Music Competition, two Recital of Distinction Awards, The Dean's Scholarship, Graduate Teaching Assistant and membership in the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society. Jonathan was also invited to perform in DU's Thirteenth Annual Provost Concert 2007 and in the most prestigious concert at the University of Denver, the annual Showcase Lamont 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Additionally, Jonathan was invited to be a guest speaker at DU in a career workshop entitled "Entrepreneurship in Music."

Jonathan has performed in master classes for Benjamin Verdery, Richard Wright, Stephen Goss, Gilbert Biberian, and Eliot Fisk. Jonathan also performed in a master class for the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet in which John Dearman called the performance, "one of the best things we've heard in years." Jonathan Leathwood Chair of the Guitar Department of the University of Colorado at Boulder states: "Jonathan Barlow is a performer of considerable sensitivity and refinement of tone."

Jonathan has premiered works by Stephen Goss, (Gnossienns, after Erik Satie, U.S. Premier and Under Milk Wood Songs, U.S. Premier) and Richard Boukas (BaiĆ£otude, World Premier). Jonathan also performed the World Premier of the Aria from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 by Heitor Villa-Lobos arranged for horn and guitar quartet by William Wiegard at the 40th International Horn Symposium.

Jonathan is privileged to be a featured recording artist with Azica Records whose roster includes such greats as Jason Vieaux, David Leisner and Grammy winner Bill Cunliffe. Jonathan recorded his debut album with a group he founded to perform his arrangements of German lied for two guitars and voice. The Massif Trio has received various honors including a grant and the "Orville Moore Memorial Award" presented by The Allied Arts, Inc. in recognition of their achievements in German lied.

Upon invitation, Jonathan has performed for various concert series: "In Concert: Classical Music in the Valley," the "Lamont Subscription Concert Series," the Allied Arts, Inc. "Orville Moore Endowment Annual Concert" and "The Fine Arts Foundation, Citizen of the Arts Jubilee." Jonathan has also performed in the "Artists of Tomorrow Concert Series" at the Bowdoin International Music Festival where he attended on full scholarship. Jonathan has performed in concert halls in Maine, Ohio and Colorado.

An avid arranger, Jonathan is published by Clear Note Publications. His transcriptions include Robert Schumann, Dichterliebe Op. 48, Franz Schubert, D.300, 330, 392 and 502, Richard Strauss, Drei Lieder Op. 29 and Antonio Vivaldi, Violin Concerto No. 7 in D Minor Op. 8, No. 7/RV 242.

Jonathan has performed several times for the Denver Japanese Consulate's celebration of Emperor Akihito's birthday. During the 2008 Democratic National Convention, Jonathan performed at an event attended by Michelle Obama, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi.
