The architecture of classical music with the drive of progressive rock.

Press Info

Transit, by John Fitz Rogers (composer) featuring Michael Nicolella (electric guitar),
is visionary, epic music that completely defies genre and category. Solo electric
guitar and a computer-driven virtual ensemble combine in a single 44-minute work
with the architecture of classical music but the drive of rock. Nicolella's guitar work
is variously fluid and flamboyant, searing and soaring as he carries us along the
music's emotional odyssey. Composer Edgard Varese said in 1922, "Speed and
synthesis are characteristics of our epoch." The title Transit suggests many
different ways of crossing over - one of the most obvious is the manner in which
the music straddles rock and classical genres, recalling Varese's "synthesis" in a
broad, cultural sense. A distinctive alchemy of sounds. Instrumental Guitar
(Electric/Progressive/Rock), total running time, 43:50

Bio

These are selected tracks from "Transit," a newly released 44-minute epic for
electric guitar and "virtual band" that the New York Times called ". . . . . an
impassioned, intense manifesto that used the guitar and a wide palette of electronic
sounds to comment on, it seemed, the whole of music history. . . expertly played by
Michael Nicolella. . . [a] heartfelt journey." For the complete recording, visit
