Walking on the beach in Waikiki, having margaritas on Montego Bay, dancing through the night in Rio, pondering loves lost and found, these are the moods and memories that surface when listening to the music of Jimmy Waddell.

Jimmy Waddell is a singer / songwriter, multi-instrumentalist who has recorded and performed with many groups and musicians including Firefall, Steve Taylor, David Bromberg, and Al Kooper.

Jimmy Waddell currently has two CD's available, Welcome to Cabana Land and Smoke Through My Fingers.

Biography

Jimmy began his professional career in the early eighties working with Sparrow recording artist Steve Taylor. Highlights include appearing on Steve's album "Meltdown" and touring North and South America, as well as performing in large arenas and venues such as the Anaheim Convention Center and Universal Amphitheater.

Later that decade, Jimmy was performing at the Telluride bluegrass festival where he sat in with David Bromberg. This led to more appearances with David including several nights at the Bottom Line in New York City. Jimmy also appears on David's Rounder Records release, "Sideman Serenade".

In the early nineties Jimmy moved to Nashville and performed and recorded with Al Kooper. Highlights include a tribute concert to Gram Parsons.

Throughout the rest of the nineties until 2001 Jimmy performed and recorded with platinum recording artists, Firefall. He appeared on their album "Messenger" as well as the recently released DVD "Rock and Roll Greats - Firefall". Highlights of touring with Firefall include touring Japan with the rock group Asia, jamming on stage with Journey in San Francisco, touring with Poco and Pure Prairie League, and sharing the stage with Kansas, Little River Band, and other rock acts of the 70's & 80's.

In 2002 Jimmy wrote and recorded an instrumental project called "Welcome to Cabana Land" under the name "The Tropicoolas". Several of Nashville's best session players appear on this album including Pat Coil, Craig Nelson, Jerry Kimbrough, Eric Darken and David Findley. Jimmy now has a new solo album entitled "Smoke Through My Fingers", which features lyrics by Vivien Kooper.

In addition to his own appearances, Jimmy performs with a Denver horn band called Chris Daniels and The Kings, as well as with former Firefall member Steve Manshel. He also performs in the worship band at Crossroads Church of Denver and makes select appearances with Firefall.

Last spring Jimmy performed on the MSC Cruise ship "The Lirica", visiting ports of call in Central and South America.

Jimmy plays Selmer and L.A. Saxes, Yamaha flutes, and KORG keyboards.
