Bio

JD Stefan has been described as a musical Renaissance Man, a "one-man-band" and, as he would put it, "simply self sufficient" at times.
JD ventured into music with piano lessons at an early age and set the foundation from which he would apply his knack for other instruments. Within a short time JD went from being known as an accomplished drummer to performing as lead vocalist and lead guitarist in various bands featuring 100% of his own material.
In 1994 JD produced and released ?Higher Ground?; an instrumental offering he recorded for the former Berkeley-based retailer The Nature Company. The release sold over 20,000 units in Nature Company stores throughout the US and Canada. John was also a member of Che? Records recording artist Dart, contributing drums, keyboards, guitar and trumpet to 2 singles, an EP and the group?s critically acclaimed full-length CD.
JD formed Overcurve in 1998 and produced the band?s eponymous debut CD in 2000. He has since followed it with the band's sophmore release "Tilt" in 2005. JD also recorded and produced his first solo effort "Sould Divided" set for independent release this year as well.
JD currently continues to produce his own material and also produces other local artists. He performs occasionally with Overcurve as well as in solo acoustic shows. His thoughful and well-crafted songs are always emotive and always accessible.

Hi JD, Just saw you live in Meridian. I live in Marsing. Listened to your "Breathe" which I thoroughly enjoyed. Do you play locally somewhere?

Hi Randy, thanks for the comment. Sorry for the late reply, I miss a lot of these on here. I haven't taken my original stuff out lately so The Retreads (covers, which is likely who you saw me with) is my most active project right now. I'm hoping to do more with the original stuff, it's a matter of finding the right combination of songs and people since I write across a lot of genres... Thanks for the hello. Breathe is a personal favorite of mine.

Hi Randy, thank you! I do play out although most of the time it's on guitar and vocals for The Retreads (covers). I have 3 or 4 original projects going but none are actively performing right now - mostly studio focused work. I'm glad you enjoyed "Breathe." Thanks for writing! Best, -JD
