BIO

JAY PINTO?s melodies and lyrics have been garnering him music fans for over a quarter of a century. An accomplished singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, Jay?s music has appeared in network and cable television shows, feature films and on radio stations worldwide.

At the age of eight, Pinto began what would be a lifelong passion for music and music production. First playing piano, then guitar, Jay?s boyhood fascination with music eventually led him to write and perform his own songs. After relocating from his native Boston to the west coast, Jay continued to write and perform original music on stages from Sacramento to L.A.; San Francisco to Seattle. It was in Seattle that he met Tom Kennedy and the two formed Bananafish ? an acoustic folk-pop duo who recorded and released four CDs and toured internationally sharing stages with Heart, Shawn Colvin, and Ani DiFranco.

In 1996, after joining TAXI, Pinto began working with Barbara Jordan of Heavy Hitters Music, a publishing company that specializes in providing hit-quality source music to the film, television and advertising community. His song ?Simply Christmas? appeared in the feature film ?Do You Want To Dance?? Since that initial placement, Pinto has gone on to have many songs placed in a variety of shows including ?One Life To Live,? (which has used a string of jazzy trip-hop pieces with French lyrics), ?The Sopranos,? ?Queer As Folk,? ?Freddie,? ?Young And The Restless,? and others.

As a producer and recording engineer, Jay has brought his years of audio, mixing and production expertise to CDs by Jonathan Kingham, Fletch, Dirk Price, Bitch & Animal, and, of course, Bananafish. Jay?s compositions can also be heard on meditation CDs, custom ?on-hold? messages and in public seminars.
