Jim Porter
An artist and song writer whose material reflects all the memories, challenges, mysteries and wonders of his life, from the eclectic colors of New York to the Star filled skies of the Arizona desert.
Jim’s songs paint a picture with subtle colors and textures that draw you in with rich chords, not unlike Steely Dan or Joni Mitchell, which build the foundations for his songs. By using the subtleties of percussive instruments and acoustic guitar he brings in an earthy feel to his music.
While some pieces may invoke heart felt emotions, others seem to captivate you with its tonal clarity. Some pieces are very dramatic, having opening credits written all over them. A haunting, very spatial feel, his style reflects a combination of Jazz, Blues, Country and Rock.
All songs were composed, engineered, and preformed by Jim himself. Playing both Electric & Acoustic guitars, guitar synthesizer, Bass & drum programming. Some with long time friend Tim Tablada on drums & percussion.
