Grass Rocket is a solo project of mine that was recently created while writing under my other name - Dciduous. The real spelling... Deciduous, after the classification of trees, is about the ever changing style and progression/degression of feelings that we all experience everyday of our lives. Seasons change which trigger the change within everything that lives here on earth. Its all about reinventing myself....a time of renewal. Accepting change and progressing, reaching out. Grass Rocket is a representation of my new found reinvention of myself. A time to lift off and start a new. The Autumn season seems to be the time when I am refreshed and feeling my muse into the next adventure. I am lifting off into a new sky, a new sun, a new season.

Dciduous and The Grass Rocket

As an artist/musician I started studying the drums when I was about 10 years old. I joined a couple of rock/metal bands in my late teens that quickly became popular in the local music scene. I loved playing in the local venues an my skills sharpened which help me to develop my own style. I had many influences growing up in the Washington D.C. area that help shape my style of playing. Rock, hip hop, jazz, metal, country, and blues were just some of the genres that influenced me as an artist. From there I joined several other bands and traveled the country playing music. In my late 20's I decided that I was through with the band scene and went solo. As a drummer it was hard to write my own music so I taught myself how to play other instruments that I could use to start composing my own pieces. I started playing the piano/keyboard, guitar, bass, and manipulating soft synths to shape and develop my new sound. I started with hip hop instrumentals and grew from there. It has been quite a journey sitting and writing in my studio. I am constantly progressing and having an open mind to new sounds and techniques. Style is very important to me as a musician. I am DCIDUOUS...the ever changing artist with definite signatures. I travel to far away lands and atmospheres in my GRASS ROCKET!
