Influences

Formative Experiences: Five years old. Walking through my house on a perfect Spring day, the windows were open and Bach's Brandenburg Concertos played. Heaven. Eight years old. Violin Recital at Cambridge Park Elementary School. I memorize the melody that I'm assigned to play. While performing it, I smile from ear to ear. Junior High School: Kicked out of Middle School band. Reading notes, boring. High School: I play my brother's drum set for hours. I fall in love with the instrument and the physicality that the instrument requires. Senior year of high school up to the present: I pick up the guitar and become obsessed with it. Still, every morning, I find myself habitually drawn to the guitar, which I play for an hour before rising from bed. James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Paul Simon, Muddy Waters, The Beatles, Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder--they were my earliest musical influences.
