His name was Funk (which of course means 'Radio' in the gutteral Low German of his parents).
Born plain Diirjck Van Vroouweedenfrouwde,
he decided to reinvent himself as Funk Van Gogh after an interesting encounter with a battery.

She was dressed in the tightly-corseted coquetry of deserted train stations at midnight; her breath misty in the glinting light from rain-slick cobbles,her hair smoky with the mournful piping of the shunting engines....

Later, he found himself behind a synthesiser in the industrial fundament of The Greater Europe.
It was from this that his unique sound emerged.
