Hailing from Detroit, Frequency Red sometimes intertwines metal drum-n-bass, hip-hop and other elements into a minimalistic style of avante-garde and alternative hip-hop. Lyrics are purposely kept to a minimum to allow the listener to flow more into the groove of the beat. Frequency Red attempts to compose their songs like indie filmscores, where the sound places the listener in a space unique to the listener.

Formed in July 2009, Frequency Red has chosen to maintain its anonymity, stating they are about whatever their music makes the listeners feel. Frequency Red authors and compose all of their music. They are currently working on their debut album called, "The Algebra of Need".
