EVAN T. EWING- SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Evan T. Ewing is deeply devoted to the art of making music happen.
Born of highly accomplished musical parents, he was happily immersed in classical music at an early age. Before entering Kindergarten he was devising his own little melodies at the piano, naturally expressing the joys and difficulties of childhood.
Soon after starting violin lessons at age nine, Evan seemed predestined to occupy a seat in a major symphony orchestra. Family, teachers and friends had high expectations for his life in the classical world. However, the Beatles suddenly stole his musical loyalties, and he became infatuated with all varieties of rock and roll. His violin found its way into the closet, and his hands found their way back to banging on the piano.
Learning about rock led Evan back in time to the music's origins in blues, jazz, folk and country. He became an avid student of all twentieth century American music. Inspired yet intimidated by jazz piano giants like Fats Waller and Art Tatum, Evan realized he only had one option: practice, practice, and then practice some more.
Evan has performed in numerous bands, most notably Radio 2000, a pop/rock outfit which formed to play his original songs. Radio 2000 enjoyed local airplay and great popularity in Boston's vibrant 1980's club scene. During the 90's, Evan struck out on his own as the blues belting philosopher clown, Uncle Ev.
Now Evan co-writes with Catherine Devine, a creative consultant from Brooklyn, NY. Together they founded Pearl Street Music, a publishing and promotional company that maintains a small recording studio. This is where Ev records their tunes, personally playing and singing all parts. He performs on piano and vocals in the Boston area.
