Ryan Welikonich - Drums and Percussion

EDGE facts:
EDGE formed in the summer of 1999 with the addition of Greg Kenenitz on bass. He joined Ryan Welikonich (drums) and friend Kevin Kessock (switching from bass to guitar) after learning of the two’s strong interest in metal. Then, in the spring of 2000, school mate Mark Knock joined the group as the second guitarist. The four jammed on Metallica covers as well popular rock tunes of the time. With the addition of vocalist Bob McCormick in the spring of 2001 EDGE was complete. They played one show before a three song demo was recorded. After playing a handful of shows every month around the Wilkes-Barre, Sayre, and Allentown areas (as well as a show opening up for Type-O Negative) the five cut their latest musical offering, the six song EP WASTED YOUTH during the spring of 2002.

EDGE’s sound:
EDGE’s sound is a melting pot of the individual members’ favorite bands (Rush, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Death, Joe Satriani, Racer X, Cannibal Corpse, The Who, Megadeth, Tool, Helloween…). Drummer Ryan Welikonich is extremely influenced (as well as the whole band) by drum teacher Sammy Korey, a jazz master who has studied with the likes of George L. Stone and Joe Morello. EDGE is also becoming much more aware of the surrounding Hardcore scene which is very prominent in their hometown of Pennsylvani
