Eric Reineke, (aka up and coming breaks producer/DJ "Zero") started the path to his musical career at an early age. Classically trained in the piano, trumpet, tuba, saxophone, trombone, and guitar, as well as being well versed in musical theory and composition, he has been playing and writing music for nearly all of his life. This 21-year old from New Orleans, Louisiana got his start in the world of production by producing and mixing hip hop tracks for up and coming emcees in various parts of the US, Canada, and UK. It was doing this that he realized that he wanted to make music production his career. Fed up with what he saw as an unchanging and bland hip hop production scene, Zero started forays into the production of various forms of electronic music, most notably breaks. Influenced first by the East-Coast Florida funky breaks sound and then later the West Coast chemical breaks sound, along with his early hip hop, bass, and various breakbeat influences, Zero has created a unique flavor of breaks all his own. His production influences range from Tony Faline, Uberzone, Freestylers, Plump DJ's, Elite Force, DJ Icey and Koma & Bones, to the Alchemist, RZA, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, DJ Muggs, Marley Marl, to Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Rascall Flatts, Fleetwood Mac, and and most new orleans musicinas. Zero production specialty is funky/chemical breaks combining rare breakbeats, gritty synths and bangin drum tracks, along with scrupulously manipulated samples and instense melodies. Although his forte is clearly breaks, Zero is a versatile producer who can conjure incredibly ill tracks in genres ranging from speed garage, to hip hop/trip hop to funky house/techno as well as progressive breaks. Live shows are a definitely strong point for Zero, who's DJ'ing style can be described as versatile and engaging. When behind the 1's and 2's, count on this kid to blow up the spot every time. Zero can deliver whatever is required to make the crowd move, mixing the funky, the techy, the uplifting, and the bangin'.. all with equal, on-point precision.
