Debra Alt

I?m a singer-songwriter originally from New York City and now living in Connecticut. I've performed many types of music - country, rock, club date, and even (gulp) disco. My claim to fame may be my performance as the lead singer for the debut performance of the Rolling Stone Magazine house band in 1979. Don?t bother doing the math, everyone says I look way younger than my age ?.

My new CD, ?In Broad Daylight? is due out on the earlier side of 2008 to be followed by long-awaited performances (I always wanted to say that).

Songwriting is my passion and my niche is being carved as someone who wants to combine the joy of expression with raising consciousness through the sheer power of words sung from the heart.

My first album, ?A Spirited Mother? was borne out of my experience of motherhood and my efforts to be a model of authenticity for my daughter. A creation of 18 lushly produced songs, was meant to inspire, soothe and celebrate the fact that the best interests of our children are served only by being true to ourselves.

It?s a few years later and my new songs describe a journey that has aimed for the higher ground, but which has sometimes run me through the weeds. Yet the songwriter struggles to be faithful to what is True, even when the light of consciousness flashes painfully bright.

"In Broad Daylight" connotes the place where we see most vividly. Here the finest hues brilliantly mirror the deepest truths, ineffably expressed as only the beauty of music can be.
