Dawn Jackson grew up in Nashville, trying to pluck melodies on the guitars hanging in her grandfather’s shop on Broadway. She later named her record label after that guitar shop and in October 2002, released her flagship album on Sho-Bud Music, recorded and co-produced with San Diego-based band Hatfield Rain. The CD, "Matter of Time" received airplay along the California coast with songs “Reflection of You”, “Radio Girl” and “I Mean Well”.

Dawn ventured out on a solo tour in 2003, extending her fan base from Southern California through the Rockies to the Southeast. The warm reception from existing and new fans encouraged her to do a solo project, which is scheduled to be released early 2004.

With a deep, smooth voice and a touch of a twang, Jackson is often referred to as a female Chris Isaak. Her songwriting style combines traditional-country, pop, folk and bluesy-jazz. The voice, lyrics and melodies create a sound that will slow your heartbeat and lower your blood pressure.

Bio

Dawn Jackson grew up in Nashville, trying to pluck single-note melodies on the guitars hanging in her grandfather’s shop on Broadway. She developed a keen ear for harmonies early on, while singing out of the Baptist hymnal on Sunday mornings. Then she followed the normal path and went to college, earning a degree in biology and chemistry.

What a stupid idea. Fast forward to Feb. 2002. She quit her comfy job and switched back to the not-necessarily-so-normal way of life she learned years ago. She co-produced and released a brow-raising debut album with San Diego-based band Hatfield Rain on her Sho-Bud Music label. The CD, “Matter of Time”, received airplay along the California coast with songs “Reflection of You”, “Radio Girl” and “I Mean Well”.

Dawn ventured out on a solo tour in 2003, extending her fan base from Southern California through the Rockies to the Southeast. The warm reception from existing and new fans encouraged her to begin a solo project, which got moved to the front burner and is scheduled to be released in early 2004.

A deep, smooth sound with a touch of a twang, Jackson’s voice is somewhat of a cross between the Cowboy Junkies’ Margo Timmins, Stevie Nicks and Lucinda Williams. She is often referred to "a female Chris Isaak." Her songwriting style combines flavors from traditional country, folk, pop and bluesy-jazz. The voice, lyrics and melodies create a mesmerizing sound that will slow your heart beat and lower your blood pressure.
